Literary Evidence

Literary Evidence: Literary evidence consists of historical writings, biographies, plays, novels and epics. Literary sources are   of two types- indigenous sources (i.e., those created within the country) and foreign sources (those written by foreign travelers to the country).

In addition to religious literature, also there is a huge volume of secular literature on math, science and medicine. In ancient and medieval times, many educated individuals travelled around the globe.

  • History of Vedic, Pali, Sanskrit Prakrit, and other discoveries at the same time as other external accounts constitutes the literary source.
  • The Puranic literature is considered by Indians as history, except for events and states, it does not have any particular time period.
  • The literary origins of a history book are archaeological discoveries, such as Coins, monuments, manuscripts, and so on.
